CUB Plant : Yatala, Qld.

Task : To provide quality, crisp, clear lighting to an elevated workspace featuring fully automated equipment whilst improving service access and energy consumption.

Carlton United Brewing [ CUB ] are one of the largest brewers in Australia. Strategic Lightings' 'Eclipse' Twin Lens 54 watt T5, IP66 fitting [ FPE12254 ] was selected to illuminate newly installed equipment at the Yatala facility. The original lighting installation was not capable of providing the quality and quantity of light needed for this area. Increasing the expected lamp life and reducing maintenance and service costs was also paramount.

The newly installed lighting now provides uniform yet soft, glare free and near shadowless illumination to the workspace. The luminaire features fully rotational lenses [ 360 degrees ] which have provided the ability to fully illuminate surfaces inside the equipment for worker access whilst boosting vertical illuminance overall. The luminaires were installed onto Strategic Lightings' proprietary trunking system which manages the cabling and supports the fittings. The trunking is then attached via a snap on support cap to threaded 'booker' rod hanging from the roof purlins.

Outcome : The quality and quantity of illuminance doubled and energy consumption in the area dropped by 30%.

Milk Processing Facility : Brisbane, Qld.

Task : To replace existing, older 400 watt Mercury Vapour fittings and Twin 36 watt battens to provide improved lighting levels for an extension of the plant housing a new conveyor bottling line.

This dairy facility is one of a number of plants that this national cooperative operates - incorporating the highest standards of milk production to satisfy the stringent audits they undergo from their Australian food retailers. The company is very focussed on providing the safest and cleanest environments possible for both employees and ultimately their finished consumer products. The space to be lit presented many challenges - not the least of which was the amount of pipework, conveyor line and equipment hanging below the pendant mounted luminaires all of which are stainless steel which 'soaks' up light thereby lowering reflectivity.
Strategic Lighting's 'Eclipse' Twin Lens 80 watt  [ FPE15280 ] and Single Lens 80 watt [ FPE15180 ] fittings were chosen due to their ability to distribute light to where it is needed via the rotating lenses. The fittings IP66 rating ensures full washdown capability and with lenses able to be fully removed [ whilst capturing the lamp safely inside ] and then taken outside of the space to be relamped.
This completely eliminates the possibility of a broken lamp and glass shards contaminating the production line below.

Outcome : Overall energy savings, an increase in horizontal and vertical illuminance - thus minimising shadowing and reducing ongoing maintenance costs as well as improving employee safety and comfort.

Nestlé Facility : Smithtown, NSW.

Task : to replace ageing and expensive T8 fittings with more energy efficient T5 luminaires capable of providing more light to were it is needed and less glare.

Nestlé Australia is a subsidiary of Nestlé SA and is part of the world's leading nutrition, health and wellness company. Whilst primarily known for its confectionery products the company also produces many of Australia's iconic food brands such as Maggi, Allens, Nescafe, Milo, Carnation, Uncle Tobys, Kit Kat and Purina.

The Smithtown facility has undergone a $18.5 million expansion recently and the company chose Strategic Lighting's 'Eclipse' Twin Lens 80 watt fitting [ FPE15280 ] replace older, European T8 luminaires which were quite inefficient and expensive to replace here in Australia.

Outcome :  Fittings that provide exceptional light output without glare as well as giving enormous flexibility due to their rotational lenses. The ability to be pendant or wall mounted horizontally or vertically - whilst reducing energy consumption and minimising ongoing maintenance costs proved a winner with the client.

Every component of this unique, Australian made fitting can be purchased as a spare part if necessary.

Austube Steel Mill : Brisbane, Qld.

Task : To provide crisp, glare free lighting to critical operational areas or inspection points within the plant where ageing, Hi bay 400 watt metal halide fittings are no longer providing sufficient light, have failed or are inaccessible for servicing.

Austube Mills is a manufacturer of domestic steel pipe and tube to markets in Australasia with supporting application products such as DuraGal and DuraPrimed coatings. With manufacturing facilities in Qld., NSW and Vic. the company services a large marketplace which includes 200 distribution networks.

For many Australian manufacturers the cost of energy to light [and run] a factory is increasing every year. As existing Hi bay light fittings age, become less efficient and produce less light - the workplace can become unsafe. These light fixtures can also be very difficult to get to in order to service and manintain them. Such was the case at Austube's Acacia Ridge plant where older metal halide Hi bay fixtures are being disconnected and Low bay, energy efficient, task specific lighting is being introduced to provide better illumination and easy access for maintenance.

Strategic Lighting's 'Eclipse' Twin and Single Lens 80 watt fittings [ FPE15280 / FPE15180 ] were chosen due to their non glare, high lumen output and IP66 rating - important in such a demanding, dirty environment. The ability of the fitting to be mounted directly onto existing pieces of equipment and plant and for the lenses to then be rotated [ often by the workers themseves ] into a final, customised position was of great benefit. Workers comfort and safety is ensured as any accidental glances at the light source do not result in spot glare which could be very dangerous in these types of areas. The fittings also had to have the ability to handle very high ambient temperatures due to the nature of the manufacturing process - particularly during summer months.

The fixtures are now also readily accessible by the electrical engineers for relamping, general cleaning and maintenance.

Outcome : Energy savings in comparison to the older 400 watt MHD fittings previously used are in the vicinity of 65%,  a safer, well lit work station with very significant ongoing maintenance savings.

Heinz / Golden Circle Plant : Brisbane, Qld.

Task : To provide glare free lighting to the raw sugar loading area and surrounding work platforms and stairwells to enhance worker safety and reduce energy consumption.

Heinz / Golden Circle are one of the oldest and largest food processing companies in Australia. The company is constantly updating and improving their work processes and equipment at the facility to ensure that productivity, safety and quality of product remains paramount. Strategic Lightings' 'Eclipse' Twin Lens 54 watt [ FPE12254 ] and Twin Lens 80 watt [ FPE15280 ] fittings were chosen due to the luminaires' high quality, non glare, crisp lighting output in high traffic and potentially dangerous work areas. The reduction of maintenance and service costs ongoing was also important.

The new installation involved the removal of older, glary metal halide floodlights in the sugar bin area and nearby work platforms and adjoining staircases. All areas needed greater levels of illumination on both horizontal and vertical surfaces for safety. The fittings' capacity to be wall mounted horizontally [ with the twin lenses then able to be rotated to customize each fittings angle of light output ] proved to be invaluable.

An IP66 rating will allow the fittings to be periodically hosed down and cleaned within what is potentially a highly corrosive environment for light fittings.

Outcome : The quantity and quality of horizontal and vertical illuminance was greatly improved [ along with safety ] and significant energy savings in the area achieved.

Pine Hills Baseball Club : Brisbane, Qld.

Task : To light a newly purpose built batting cage enclosure - creating a uniform field of illumination within the perimeter to ensure that players' physical safety is not compromised whilst practising in the space and that spectators are able to view the area comfortably for coaching purposes.

Pine Hills Baseball Club was established in 1994 and has played a pivotal role in the development of baseball in Queensland - producing a host of players who have not only excelled at a local and national level but who have also gone on to play major league baseball in the USA.
The ball can be placed onto a batting 'T' or alternately 'fired' at the player used a mechanical pitching machine.
A baseball travels at very high speeds inside a batting cage and players need to see the ball clearly without any distracting glare. This could be extremely hazardous.
Strategic Lightings' 'Eclipse' Twin LEns 80 watt [ FPE15280 ] fitting was chosen due to their ability to produce the required illumination with no glare as well as being able to potentially survive an errant ball strike should the safety netting below the fittings be compromised. As the enclosure has open sides the fitting also had to be resistant to insect intrusion at night when the light attracts more than its fair share of bugs. The fitting also had to be capable of being hosed down occasionally to clean off insect debris and dust.

Having rotational lenses to customise light direction by fitting was also a determining factor in the fittings selection.

Outcome :  An evenly lit environment that guarantees batters can see the ball in transit in conditions similar to those of an actual game - in the day or night. Player safety is paramount at all times and the non glare nature of the 'Eclipse' luminaire ensures that this concern is addressed completely.

'During my research for lighting options for the batting cages at Pine Hills Lightning's new purpose built facility I was recommended to Strategic Lighting by a Lightning club official.

Right from the outset both Rod and Anthony were a breath of fresh air with their passion and knowledge of their own product - but more importantly their focus on customer service. They know they have an outstanding and innovative product and [ unlike so many of their competitors ] are keen to assist wherever possible.

During the design phase they ran multiple computer scenarios designed to extract the best possible outcome for the cages. As outlined in the accompanying story there is a very real challenge in supplying sufficient light in these circumstances since the balls can be launched by the mechanical throwing machines at speeds of up to 100 km per hour. Good lighting with minimal glare was the initial requirement - followed by ease of installation, the longevity of the fixture and lamps and ease of maintenance.

The team at STRATEGIC did not disappoint !

The fixture has been given a great deal of consideration during its design and construction and has a number of very innovative features as a result. The fitting is entirely waterproof, chemically resistant, capable of taking a knock from the occasional high velocity baseball [ due to pressurised lens chambers ] has a very high light output and the ability to direct the light via rotating lenses. This ability to rotate the lenses allows for the final finetuning of a lighting layout. Cleverly - on the outside ends of the rotating diffusers there are inbuilt calibration marks that make repititious aligning of the banks of light a breeze.

There were other lighting companies with other products that could have provided some of the required features - but only one had them all.

I am thoroughly satisfied with the product and support from a Rod and Anthony fron Strategic Lighting and have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone that will sit still long enough for me to give them our recommendation.

Further it is particularly satisfying to be able to give this ringing endorsement to a local Australian manufacturer '.

Harbour Quays : Gold Coast, Qld.

Task : To provide better general security for the underground carpark and adjacent walkways.

Harbour Quays is a contemporary, residential property developed by Lewis Land Corporation on the north end of the Gold Coast. Lighting Designer Tony Douthwaite specified Strategic Lightings' 'Eclipse' Single Lens 80 watt [ FPE15180 ] fittings with a sleeved lamp which provides a purple hue to the light to deter drug users. As well as providing additional  security to the area an 'architectural element' has been introduced to add value to the ambience at night. The fittings' IP66 rating allows it to operate perfectly in this exposed location with the rotating lens allowing light to be directed exactly where needed.

Outcome : Enhanced security and ambience ongoing with reliable performance and longevity.

Gateway Hydraulics : Brisbane, Qld.

Task : To provide improved, shadow free lighting to a large fabrication workshop facility where ageing, 400 watt metal halide fittings were no longer providing sufficient light and were very expensive to run.

Gateway Hydraulics is an Australian owned hydraulic engineering, design and manufacturing company specialising in servicing the industrial, marine, mobile equipment and agricultural sectors with two locations - Brisbane and the Gold Coast. For many Australian manufacturers the cost of energy to light [and run] a factory increases every year. This growing cost is further compounded by failing light fittings providing less light which therefore makes the workplace potentially unsafe.

This was the case at both of Gateway Hydraulics' locations.

Strategic Lighting's 'Eclipse' Twin Lens 80 watt fitting [ FPE15280 ] and Single Lens 54 watt fitting [ FPE12154 ] were chosen due to the linear nature of their light output delivery which provides higher vertical and horizontal illuminance which was desirable in the workshop and also in adjacent storage / spare parts racking areas. A gantry crane runs through the workshop at approximately 7 metres with the 'Eclipse' Twin 80 watt fittings replacing the existing MHD fixtures mounted above gantry height.

The cost to relamp the fittings will be reduced significantly [ versus the older MHD variety ] with the instant strike capacity of the fitting also improving safety in the event of a 'brown out'.

Outcome : Lighting levels in the workshop area have increased by around 30% - with the cost of running the fittings that were replaced to be reduced by up to 60% also.
Workers within the area have commented on the vastly improved lighting levels and quality of light - allowing them to increase their potential productivity and enjoy a much safer, well lit workplace.

Godzilla Motorsport : Brisbane, Qld.

Task : To replace fittings that were constantly being subjected to extreme noise vibration and therefore, failure and to provide high illumination levels within the tuning booth.

Godzilla Motorsports is a high performance racing engine tuning specialist in Brisbane and has gained a reputation as one of the best in their field in Australia.

Their engine tuning booth [ and light fittings as a consequence ] is subject to extremely high levels of noisewave vibration which can literally shake a light to pieces. The owner wanted a durable fitting which would not require constant replacement and  high lumen output within the booth without generating glare. The 'Eclipse' Twin Lens 54 watt [ FPE12254 ] was selected due to its ability to provide the required light levels and its inbuilt vibration 'dampening' via the German Stucchi lampholders.

Outcome : The installation has provided superior illumination and energy savings with the fittings also proving to be resilient to the extreme vibration levels.

Seedling Nursery : South East Qld.

Task : To replace the older, existing IP65, T5 fluorescent long seal batten luminaires within the humidifier chambers that were constantly failing. These lights help advance the growth of seedlings in their early, critical stages of development by providing a constant, very high light level.

This nursery is a major commercial supplier of organically grown vegetable seedlings to the east coast of Australia and forms an integral link in the supply of fresh food throughout Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. The facility is capable of producing over 500 million seedlings per year to an ISO9001 and ISO22000 standard.

Constant failure of fittings in the humidifier chambers were costing the company money through frequent repairs and the loss of plant stock from diminished light levels within the space. Due largely to the constant moisture and corrosive nature of the gas produced by organic chemicals [ used to fight fungal growth on the floor beneath the plant racks ] the plastic diffusers of the existing fittings mounted on the walls became brittle. They would then split easily when staff bumped them accidentally allowing for moisture ingress.

Strategic Lighting's 'Eclipse' Twin and Single Lens 80 watt [ FPE15280 / FPE15180 ] fittings were selected due to their ability to provide consistently high lumen output in a wet, humid and corrosive environment and to 'take a knock' occasionally. Lutron smart control gear was supplied and commissioned by Strategic Lighting who are accredited specialists in the brand. The system chosen was the Lutron Home Works QS using Dali due to its ability to allow preset values, dim the lights in 1% increments if necessary, master on/off for 4 separate banks of lighting, individual on/of, individual dimming of fittings, lux level monitoring as well as the capacity to monitor and change lighting levels remotely online. The system installed has a basic interface designed for simple, straight forward software connection and use via Apple and Android devices.

The non glare characteristic of the parabolic reflector and T5 lamp combination means that even with the exceedingly high light levels in the space worker comfort and visual safety is ensured.

Outcome : The end product delivered an average lux level of around 5500 at a reference plane of 1200mm - with the lighting levels able to be adjusted easily to suit the growing needs of differing varieties of seedlings.

After conducting research into chemically resistant light fittings capable of providing reliable lighting for a long period of time in our harsh, humidifier chamber environment - we found an Australian company, Strategic Lighting based in Brisbane. The company has a product which ticked all the boxes - entirely waterproof, chemically resistant, capable of taking a knock here and there [ due to pressurised lens chambers ] with high light output and the ability to direct light via rotating lenses. The ballasts were also compatible with a Lutron smart wiring system giving us unlimited options - all of which proved to be a major drawcard.

Strategic Lighting was kind enough to come to site and demonstrate the luminaires for our client who were thrilled with the potential of the product. Strategic Lighting then came up with several different designs which were submitted to the company for fine-tuning until a final layout was determined to be the best for their needs. In the end it was decided that 44 'Eclipse' luminaires in total would be required in the space - comprised of 36 Twin Lens 80 watt [ FPE15280 ] and 8 Single Lens 80 watt [ FPE15180 ] fittings. This would provide a balanced, consistent lux level of around 5500 lux at a reference plane 1200mm above the floor [ the height of the seedling trays ].

Our customer was very pleased with the finsihed product and are now looking to upgrade their other 5 humidifier rooms to the same specification.

We would certainly endorse the service and professionalism shown by Strategic Lighting and recommend them without hesitation ".

Haymans Branch : Caboolture, Qld.

Testimonial

" I recently chose Strategic Lightings' 'Eclipse' fittings to replace the existing old, inefficient metal halide lights in my Haymans branch for a number of reasons. Firstly, they had to provide a much better lighting level in the retail showroom and warehouse areas to increase worker safety and visual comfort from an OH&S perspective.  Secondly, the fitting had to be of export quality and finish to provide a long life expectancy and to give the business value for money. Thirdly, I wanted to use an Australian made product with proven technology that offered me peace of mind - not inflated promises of lamp and fitting life based on mathematical formulas. Lastly - I wanted to be able to quantify real lighting power savings for my business of at least 60%.

I am pleased to say that I was able to achieve all of my goals by choosing the Eclipse and I will recommend it to other business owners as well as to my wholesale customers ".

Sapphire Aquatic Centre : Pambula Beach, NSW.

Task : To replace existing 400w floodlights [ inc. emergency lighting ] around the pool area and fluorescent battens in the changerooms that had deteriorated in the harsh, salt and chlorine laden environment.

Sapphire Aquatic Centre is owned and operated by the Bega Valley Shire Council and is a multi purpose pool facility catering for swimming lessons, water aerobics, hydrotherapy and general recreation. The water in the two pools is heated to 30.5 degrees Celsius which [ combined with an all alsynite roof ] creates an extremely harsh, humid, chlorine filled environment which effectively destroyed the original metal luminaires via accelerated corrosion.
Strategic Lighting's 'Eclipse' Twin and Single Lens [ Maintained Emergency ] 80 watt  [ FPE15280 / FPE15180ME ] and Single Lens 24 watt [ FPE6124 ] T5 fluorescent luminaires were chosen for the refit. With high lumen output, rotational lenses, an IP66 rating and also being constructed from materials that resist corrosion meant they were ideal for the centre. Swimmers eye comfort was just as much a priority for the centre operators as adequate lighting levels and longevity and therefore the non glare characteristic of the luminaires [ being so close to the pool surrounds and walkways ] was very important in the final selection process.
The 316 stainless steel fitting clips were given an acrylic two pak finish to ensure they will not suffer direct attack from chlorine droplets - particularly during warmer summer months.

Outcome : A safer, well lit environment where patrons are not exposed to potential glare issues and where the operators benefit from energy savings [ in the vicinity of 60% compared to the old ] as well as reduced maintenance costs in the future.

"My contact with Strategic Lighting first began some 2 years ago when we began to evaluate lighting options for our facilities.
I met Anthony and Rod to discuss lighting for our workshops at Archerfield which are unique, heritage listed, WW2 domed aircraft hangar structures. In my dealings with Anthony and Rod I found them to be open and honest about their product's capabilities and applications. When technical details were requested they promptly supplied the information and have always been supportive with on site evaluation on any occasion.
I was very impressed that they were not out to sell their product if it was not suitable for a specific application.
The design and construction specification of their 'Eclipse' enclosed Twin and Triple Lens, IP66 T5 fluorescent fitting is of a high standard with the use of high quality components being made, assembled and supported locally in Australia. The component design life is good with longer life options available and the fully enclosed lamp design with adjustable directional light distribution has significant advantages in many applications.
On site we have many 'Eclipse' twin and triple fixtures in operation currently saving us between 50-60% of the previous operational cost. Staff working under these lights have provided positive feedback regarding the colour rendition and instant startup as compared to the previous 400w metal Halide discharge fixtures.

In operation I have no hesitation recommending it to be considered when applied to the correct application".

CUB Plant : Yatala, Qld.

Task : To light a production line facility [ including the despatch area hoarding ] to an average lighting level of 400 lux and provide uniform illumination throughout the space incorporating smart control.

Carlton United Brewing [ CUB ] are one of the largest brewers in Australia.
Strategic Lighting were recently tasked with the design and supply of the lighting installation and luminaires for their production line at the Yatala : Brisbane facility. Strategic Lightings' 'Eclipse' Twin 80 watt T5 luminaires [ FPE15280 ] were chosen for the internal line due to their reliability and long life, high light output and a colour temperature of 3000 degrees Kelvin.  A combination of narrow and medium beam lenses were used to achieve the exceptional uniformity required by CUB. An accessorised mounting bracket allowed two luminaires to be mounted side by side [ see photos ]. The ability of the lenses to be rotated and the light output customised by fitting was a deciding factor for CUB in choosing the 'Eclipse' luminaire. The 'pairing' of fixtures provided the exceptional output and distribution / uniformity required as a consequence of 8m spacing and a mounting height of up to 8.5m. A warm lamp colour temperature was important - eliminating 'blue light' which has the potential to degrade the beer product during bottling.
Each luminaire was fitted with an eco ballast having DALI function. The system was connected to a Lutron DALI 'Energi Saver' Node.  Daylight harvesting was achieved with a Lutron daylight sensor and the system was programmed using an IPad.  Full over-ride and additional dimming and control functions are achieved via a keypad or IPad.  Full auto programming is available but not activated [ as yet ] in this system.
Under the exterior despatch hoarding the 'Eclipse' Twin Lens 80 watt luminaire was installed with its excellent lumen output providing a high vertical illuminance for safe loading and forklift operations. The fittings' IP66 rating ensures that dust and insect ingress with not occur in this exposed environment and the company will also save on maintenance costs.

Outcome : A beautifully lit space which ensures that workers will be safe and enjoy very high levels of visual acuity which will aid productivity. CUB will also benefit from the energy savings and reduced potential maintenance costs of this proven fluorescent technology.

" I have been working with Strategic Lighting and installing their Eclipse fitting for over 2 years.

The unique design of the fitting with the rotational ability of each lens and its IP66 rating means that it can literally be used anywhere - both outside in completely exposed, harsh environments and inside buildings and sheds. I have installed the 'Eclipse' fitting now in a wide variety of applications and locations and am always impressed by how well it has been designed and engineered with the electrical contractor in mind.

Through wiring of the fitting is simple and easy with entry via the access hatch in the aluminium body. The 4mm terminal block connections make for simple and quick wiring. The luminaire comes standard with two x 316 stainless steel clips plus a safety overlock for easy suspension. The ability of the fitting to also be mounted horizontally and vertically on walls [ or even a piece of plant on a factory floor ] provides great flexibility and endless applications and solutions for an electrical contractor and their clients.

A great feature of the fitting is the lens which has the ability to be rotated to deliver light to exactly where it is needed and we have found this gives us outstanding flexibility with installation.

I have even installed the Eclipse in my own warehouse to take advantage of its energy efficiency, robust design and great performance. I particularly like the peace of mind that comes with using this fitting.

Nothing beats proven technology that a contractor can rely upon to give great performance and value over a long time. No contractor wants to lose time and money going back on site to fix faults and failures that are the responsibilty of the manufacturer [ via a wholesaler ] in Asia.

I am happy to be installing an Australian made light fitting that I know I can trust and count on - that's why I will continue to recommend the 'Eclipse' from Strategic Lighting to my customers and other contractors "

Food Processing Facility : Brisbane, Qld.

Task : To provide clean, shadow free, safe lighting to the food packaging area where adequate light is essential for QC and fine packaging task work.

This client is one Australia's largest and most diversified marketing and manufacturing organisations specializing in the production and export of products for the fast food and catering industry. Exporting to over 25 countries it is essential that AQIS approved quality management HACCP procedures are rigidly adhered to thereby ensuring a world class, quality product.
A recent refurbishment of the packaging area of the facility provided the opportunity to improve and upgrade the lighting. Strategic Lighting's 'Eclipse' Twin Lens 54 watt fittings [ FPE12254 ] were chosen due to their energy efficiency, superior lumen output and stringent washdown capability. The unique parabolic reflector lens ensures that employees comfort and safety are ensured due to no irritating glare emanating from the fitting.

Outcome : A major improvement in lighting quality and levels creating a consistently lit,  shadow free environment for workers.

Tooltech Plastics [ TTP ] : Brisbane, Qld.

Task : This company is undergoing an image upgrade and the production areas are an important part of this change process. Good lighting is one priority recognized early in the planning stage with quality light, performance and energy efficiency being desired outcomes.

Tooltech Plastics by Design have been producing high quality plastic products to clients specifications for over 45 years. A family owned business they realize the importance of a safe, well lit workplace for their employees and customers from a presentation perspective. Large Commercial Butchery : Brisbane, QLD

Task : a well known and very busy commercial butchery in Brisbane needed the best possible solution to their ongoing problem of luminaire failure in the general meat preparation area. The existing IP65 fittings featured elongated, long seals with clip on type diffusers and were washed daily. Clips were constantly breaking and seals leaking which ultimately caused rapidly diminishing light output and eventually total fitting failure.

Strategic Lightings' Single Lens 54 watt 'Eclipse' fitting [ FPE12154 ] was recommended to the client by respected local electrical contractor, Steve Rolls of SRE. The luminaires IP66 rating, DAFF approval, unique design with an export quality finish and superior light output should ensure that it will perform consistently in the space over a long period of time. The ability of the lens to be rotated through 100 degrees allowed the light from each fitting to be customised to its location.
This feature appealed very much to the client.

Outcome : brighter, more consistent light output in the busy space with no glare and superior energy efficiency. The fittings will also prove to be more robust and able to deal with constant and daily washdown.

Staff are very happy with the end result and have [ jokingly ] requested that 'Ray Bans' be distributed before each shift ...

Marco Engineering : Brisbane, Qld.

Task : To replace the original under performing and inefficient metal halide lighting on a 'one for one' basis to increase lighting levels whilst reducing energy and service costs.

Marco Engineering is a specialist die making and extrusion company. This refit was particularly challenging due to a requirement to suspend at 8.5 metres to clear a crane gantry that runs the length of the building. Strategic Lightings' 'Eclipse' Twin 80 watt T5 fitting [ FPE15280 ] was selected to provide the necessary lumen output required to improve lux levels on floor thus allowing workers to operate equipment safely and efficiently and to inspect finished product for QC.

Outcome : Lighting energy savings of 66% were achieved along with a 33% increase in lighting levels on floor and significant ongoing service and maintenance cost reductions.

Queensland Urban Utilities : Numerous sites around Qld.

Task : To provide a more robust and versatile, energy efficient light source for as many sites as possible.

Queensland Urban Utilities [ QUU ] are responsible for the delivery of water and sewage facilities to the Brisbane, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim and Somerset local authority areas. Many of their installations have been adversely affected by floods in recent years and a more versatile and robust lighting source was required for their many sites both above and below ground. Strategic Lightings' 'Eclipse' Twin lens 80 watt [ FPE15280 ] and Twin lens 54 watt [ FPE12254 ] fittings were specified due to their IP66 rating, rotational lens capability, energy efficiency, robustness and their ability to be mounted in any orientation.

QUU engineers found them ideal for the many and varied locations and uses - for task lighting, security lighting and lighting to pathways and service points.

Outcome : These ongoing installations are providing better illumination for worker comfort and safety whilst saving significantly on energy costs.
